more books.

a few other books that i finished up recently... these went out to their brides earlier today. surprisingly, i have done quite a few books with that warm gray paper, and i love it! it seems like you can pair it with almost any bright color...

and... i've had this paper for awhile, patiently waiting for someone to pick it out (i also have it in pink) and finally got to use it! i love the way it looks paired with a simple design for the names.

paperlust on stylemepretty!

does anyone remember this book? why, you ask? well, laya's wedding was featured on stylemepretty.com and the book i created for her happened to sneak it's way into the photos... you can view the whole posts here and here. photo by jonathan hanson via stylemepretty

more books.

hello monday! i can't say that i'm excited that it's the beginning of the week yet again... but at least i got some work done over the weekend and can hopefully rest a little more next weekend. these are a few books i finished last friday, and i will have more to post later as i just got another 4 bound today.

i have yard work, gardening ideas, furniture makeovers and diy projects swirling around in my head today. oh to have some extra time to accomplish these things!

6.01.2009

pretty as a peacock.

this one just got finished and mailed off last week! leanne is having a peacock inspired wedding and wanted a guestbook to match. this great paper came from hodgepodge and i really love the way it turned out on her book.

did you have a good weekend? i actually got a few things done, and aside from having a killer headache sunday night, it was a good weekend for us too. if only i had a little more time...

5.14.2009

books. and a new camera...

a few books that i just completed... don't you love the texture on that black book? and i am having way too much fun taking photos of my books with my new fabulous camera! i cannot wait for a little free time to go experiment some more... and learn how to use all the fancy settings.

5.13.2009

belated books.

a few books that were done a little while ago... i seem to have misplaced some other belated book photos as well... should have some more posted soon! too much going on...

4.06.2009

red hot!

i am loving all these beautiful, bright colors! i guess 2009 is the year for bright color pairings for weddings... not that i'm complaining, of course. it just makes my job more fun :) simple, clean and modern, i love how lexi's book turned out.

working on a few other special projects right now as well... will post pictures soon!

3.31.2009

spring books.

here are a few books that i finished on tuesday, the last day of march! can you believe it's already april? i can't. i'm really excited about these books and a few i'm currently working on. megan wanted a rustic look for her outdoor wedding... i experimented a little on hers with some raffia... but it just didn't look the way i was expecting it to. i opted to use some great texture-y paper instead, and i think it turned out really nice!

krista is having a photobooth at her wedding, so i created this book so her guests could add in their photos and warm wishes after having their picture taken! we also added an envelope to the back to house all the extra photostrips... now that's thinking ahead!

anjeli was great to work with and already had an amazing design from her invitations (which she designed herself!) that we used elements from for her book. i just love the fresh, bright colors! reminds me of the warm weather that's finally starting to show up again...

3.17.2009

happy st. paddy's day!

thought my blog could use a little green today! this pretty little print is from OhSmile. man, that would look good in my kitchen or anywhere in my house really...

well friends, 'wedding season' has officially started! i am receiving quite a few orders for guestbooks... so if you need one anytime soon let me know now! you can always view past books at my other blog here. i should have a few new ones to post photos of soon. and there are some interesting, but beautiful, color schemes in some of my upcoming books... so exciting! i love it when i get to play around with color and design a little more than the usual :)

2.26.2009

green envy.

yay for green. i wish i had found this paper when i got married... i pretty much would have covered everything with it. and it matches my walls... what more could you want?

finishing up a few more books... i have a feeling things are about to get busy.

2.06.2009

friday already?

i can't believe how fast this week (well... this year) has already gone by. it's already february and things are just moving right along! i have a feeling orders for books are about to pick up due to all the spring/summer weddings approaching...

here's a few books i finished up this week... really loving the indian chintz from paper-source on the book above. it just looks like it will be a fun wedding...

the book below has one of my favorite papers too, a dark krinkly brown that reminds me of tree bark.

hope you all have a great weekend!!!

1.25.2009

a few books.

i know i haven't posted many books lately... so here are a few recent ones.

gray is certainly making a huge comeback in everything from fashion to home decor. and why not? it's neutral, looks great with just about any color, and can be warm or cool - depending on what colors you combine it with. i've really been leaning towards some grey stuff in our living room, to go with our new purple couch! actually found some great pillows at target yesterday...

the honeycomb design came from lisa's save the dates, and i think it looks awesome with the gray. i also really like the cutout effect with this book, it gives it a clean, modern edge.

can't really say much about this book, other than it was kind of a 'rush' book for someone you may or may not know from the big screen...

another fun book with this awesome green paper. i think i would wallpaper my entryway in this stuff if doug would allow it. though i'm guessing our kitchen is probably enough green for one house...

hope you all had a wonderful weekend! i've got some things i've been putting off (what's new?) that i need to take care of before monday rolls around...

sarah + dante

sarah ordered a custom guestbook from me earlier this summer and i was thrilled to hear from her and see some photos of her wedding! she was kind enough to answer a few questions for me and let me share them here on the blog. thanks so much sarah! i also wanted to give thanks to their photographers, Orman Photographers (contact info for them below!) for allowing me to show off these wonderful photos!

When and where did your wedding take place?

Our wedding took place on June 21, 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee. We were married in my parents’ backyard.

How did you find out about Paperlust?

I found Paperlust while searching for other wedding-related items on etsy.com.

What is your favorite thing about your book?

I love how personalized it is. The paper, the colors, and the fonts very much reflect the feel of our wedding.

Favorite comment left inside for you and your husband?

People left us many wonderful, special messages. The funniest was left by a group of my husband’s high school friends. Along with their congratulatory message, they took two pictures that are slightly different, titled them “Hocus Focus” and wrote “Find the 6 differences in these two pictures!” It certainly something that will make us laugh every time we look back at the book!

Easiest and hardest decisions during the wedding planning process?

The hardest part of wedding planning was coming up with the guest list. We wanted to keep it relatively small, for space and cost reasons as well as the feel of the event. However, we both have pretty large families so we still had about 130 people, and there were more people we would have liked to invite.

One of the easiest decisions was not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen. It simplified many aspects of the planning and helped us keep the casual feel we wanted for our wedding.

thanks again for sharing with us sarah! and if you'd like to talk to the folks at Orman Photographers, you can contact them via email at: ormanphoto@comcast.net or by phone: 615.373.5965

smile!

these are a few photobooth books i finished up today for my friends over at Smile Now Photobooths. man, i wish we could have afforded a photobooth at our wedding. how awesome would that be? oh well... maybe for our 10 year anniversary party or something :)

10.05.2008

it's already october?

i know i've been bad... i didn't post at all last week. so i thought i'd show you a little of what i've been up to. last week was extremely busy. i had a huge job (144 page huge) to get out the door at my daytime job along with a few rushed jobs for paperlust. i've also been busy trying to get all my sales tax stuff straight since i am technically a 'business'.

i also wanted to announce that i am no longer accepting rush orders for wedding guestbooks. i have quite a few on my plate right now, and am unable to squeeze any more in at the moment. i'm sorry for the inconvenience, but i have to find some time to sleep :)

in other news, hodgepodge turned 4 on saturday! happy b-day hodgepodge! i know i didn't get to see you for long, but congrats dinah, on all your success with the store. (ps - they also have a new blog... check it out here!)

i hope you all have a great week! i promise i'll be posting more this week... in the mean time - here's a few new books!

9.24.2008

today i am

today i am 23 years old. sometimes i feel like i'm much older than that, though. but i guess i've done quite a bit so far in this short time. i graduated college, i married my best friend (and wonderful man), i've had some awesome (and not so awesome) jobs... and i currently have a great job that i love! i've met some wonderful friends that have always been supportive and encouraging to me. and i've been creating these books for over a year now, and have been selling them for over 6 months! business is growing everyday it seems like. i'll soon be introducing some new notecards and magnet sets. where does the time go exactly?

above is a book that i made for someone else who recently had a birthday. parkridge pregnancy center had their 15 year anniversary this month, and i was able to donate a sign-in book for the banquet they hold every year. i was also fortunate enough to work on their invitation, ministry report, program and other pieces for this year's banquet (through hartsfield design, where i work as a graphic designer). their banquet was last night, september 23rd. jim daly, from focus on the family, was their guest speaker... if you ever have a chance to hear him speak, i suggest you do so. he has a wonderful story to tell and a wonderful sense of humor as well. doug and i had such a great time at the banquet last night, and i'm glad that i get to be a part of something that helps so many people.

september goals

i figured while i babbled away about my goals for september, i should at least give you something interesting to look at. this is a book i just completed. rachel is having a photobooth at her wedding and wanted a tall book to fit the photostrips in. she designed the front panel (which matches her invites) and agreed to let me try out another cut out panel on her book. thanks for trusting me rachel!

okay... so now my goals for september...
    1:: reach 90 sales
    2:: add new notecards
    3:: add some magnet sets
4:: better organize my office space
5:: revamp my profile, policies and item descriptions
6:: be in bed before 11 pm every night (that sounds like a business goal, right?)
    7:: reach 175 hearts

i am also dedicating time to writing etsy advice, and will start featuring past customers who have put their guestbook to good use. anything else you think i should be working on? let me know and we'll see if it will fit into my schedule :)

9.11.2008

would you like to see what i've done this week?

so, when you see me and wonder why i look sleep deprived, you'll know without having to ask :) the sad thing is... this isn't even all of them that have been completed this week.

i am really starting to like this cut-out panel. although it doesn't have all the fancy ribbon and stuff, it's a very simple and elegant way to display the design. i'll be doing a few more of these cutout panels in the weeks to come. i also wanted to say thanks to cece for trusting me on this one!

oh, and i've decided that i'm going to start a weekly posting (on fridays as long as i get enough sleep that week) called Etsy Advice (super creative, huh?). during this time i will share my knowledge and resources that i've learned so far selling on etsy. got any questions you want answered? send me a line and i'll answer it to the best of my abilities.

i also want to start featuring some of my couples that have purchased guestbooks from me and have had their wedding (and used their book!). if you fit this description and would like to be featured, just let me know!

9.01.2008

something new...

this is amy's book. i sent it out last week, and i hope she loves it. she actually mailed me the black & white scrapbooking paper that she picked up from joann's fabrics. she also used this paper in some of her other wedding projects and wanted her guestbook to tie in. amy also emailed me her monogram design (i'm not sure who designed it...). i wanted to keep it the same shape and thought it would look strange with the wrap-around that i normally use, so i decided to do a cut-out panel on the front cover instead. thanks amy for trusting me with something new! i couldn't be happier with the way it turned out, and i hope this opens the door for some new and interesting designs for the front covers of future books...

8.25.2008

new books! yay!

here are a couple of books that i have neglected to post over the last few weeks... i know, i know, i'm behind! i've been pretty busy, though, so give me a break?

i really love the way lara's book turned out. the simplicity of the brown and green is just beautiful. and i did learn something new! the little swirly motif can be found under the wood ornaments (typeface/dingbats), who would've thought?

sara was brave enough to try out some new paper i picked up at the new paper-source in dallas (when we were on vacation, of course). i think it turned out great... i just love the gold swirly pattern...

dominique is having a peacock themed wedding and chose this marbled paper for her book. you can't see it in the photo, but the gold in the swirls is metallic and pops right off the paper.

and stacey... another beautiful book made with this kraft/flourish paper. this stuff has never disappointed me because it seems to match everything i pair with it :)
